Through our wholly owned subsidiary Australian Strategic Materials (ASM), Alkane is developing the Dubbo Project, an advanced poly-metallic processing plant for zirconium, hafnium, niobium and rare earths. As the first processing plant of its kind in Australia, the Dubbo Project represents a unique and exciting career opportunity for talented people across a range of professional fields and trades.
ASM expects to employ approximately 250 people at the Dubbo Project, once the plant is operational. As this will be a new high-tech plant associated with a long-life mine, we’re offering genuinely interesting work and long-term career pathways. The range of jobs will span:
- engineers, metallurgists, chemists, scientists
- administration, accounting, logistics
- transport, mining, operators, security, cleaning
- tradespeople – mechanical, boiler making, electrical (including apprentices)
Alkane does not simply live and work among our local communities; we are proud to be an intrinsic part of those communities – from the thriving regional city of Dubbo to the village of Toongi and surrounding areas. Our land management and biodiversity improvement initiatives are second to none, exemplified by our independent mixed farming enterprise. We also contribute to worthwhile community projects through education, resources and donations. Our employees are encouraged to get involved and embrace the lifestyle Central Western NSW has to offer.

Construction of the Dubbo Project
Technology and construction contractors will have the overall responsibility for building the Dubbo Project. When the time for construction approaches, we will provide information on our website about how local tradespeople and service providers can apply to be involved.
Exploration, discovery and development remain at the heart of Alkane’s business. The company has several gold, copper, zirconium, hafnium, niobium and rare earth elements interests in central-western NSW and eastern Australia, and gold investments in Western Australia. We maintain small offices in Dubbo, Orange and Peak Hill. Our corporate management team is predominantly based in Perth.
Our current operational workforce is located at the Tomingley Gold Operations (TGO), south of Dubbo. Here, around 150 employees and contractors are engaged in mining and gold production. All TGO operational jobs are advertised on Seek and/or in the local paper as they become available.
